Everybody loves a parade

What is a community parade, you might ask?

We envision the community parade at our wedding as a whimsical revelry in which all can participate. We’ll prepare for the parade together by making musical instruments to form our own marching band, decorating parasols, pedal-powered vehicles, and floats, and adding whimsical touches to our outfits from the costume closet. Then we will march en masse around the block, a distance of roughly half a mile. When the parade concludes, the ceremony will begin.

This event is inspired by the neighborhood St. Patrick’s Day parades of Sam’s childhood. Between 1995 and 2000, Sam and her family would gather with the McNeels and other local families to toddle, pedal, and roll around Beaver St. bedecked in green, hair dyed orange with food coloring.
